OUR STORY
How we met
Rachel and Connor’s love story began with a playful burger comment on Hinge and blossomed into something extraordinary. They connected over their shared love of good food, music, movies, and the beach. When they first matched, they were both at the beach—Rachel boldly declared Portsmouth beach was “shit,” but it later became her favorite as it became the backdrop for their love story.
Now, Portsmouth beach holds their best memories. Connor carries Rachel’s seashells and helps her find the prettiest ones, embodying the humour, romance, and heartfelt connection that defines their relationship.
Their first date at Café Nero, one of Connor’s favourite coffee spots, was equally unforgettable. Rachel, wanting to impress, fibbed that she loved it too. Connor, in true Connor fashion, broke into a spontaneous dance and a pretend strip tease right there, leaving Rachel mortified and in stitches. At that moment, she knew: this was the man she wanted to spend her life with.
Fast forward to
Rachel and Connor are happily engaged and settling into their Portsmouth home, where life is filled with laughter, love, and a few quirks, like Rachel’s gentle snoring and Connor’s habit of stealing the blankets. Together, they’ve embraced simple joys like scenic walks, coffee breaks, and indulging in doughnut (or two!). Sharing a home with Brogan and Liam has added extra warmth and entertainment, with these two being by their side every step of the way—from watching their first date unfold to cheering them on as they plan this incredible chapter of their lives.
The proposal
Connor’s proposal to Rachel was nothing short of magical. Months in the making, he began by asking her father for his blessing in a uniquely playful nod to South African tradition —offering a plastic cow as 'lobola'. Connor had meticulously planned every detail, from secretly involving Rachel’s entire family and sharing photos of the ring to ensuring her nails were perfectly done.
Rachel, ever observant, had a feeling something was up, but she couldn’t have imagined the moment would unfold in a breathtaking garden in a quaint French town. Surrounded by her family and the gentle quacks of ducks, she was caught completely off guard. So much so, in fact, that as Connor began his proposal, she was busy chatting about tadpoles in the pond!
Despite the distraction, it was a moment of pure joy and love — romantic, dreamy, and made unforgettable by the presence of those closest to them. A storybook chapter in their one-of-a-kind love story.
